If you’re serious about getting the very best from your adventure bike, this performance exhaust for the yamaha ténéré 700 t7 is precisely what you need. Designed, engineered, and manufactured right here in the UK by Max Torque Cans, this bolt-on silencer delivers improved exhaust flow, a more aggressive and purposeful soundtrack, and a cleaner, racier appearance — all without compromising the legendary reliability and durability that makes the T7 such a celebrated machine in the adventure bike world.
Whether you’re threading through city traffic during the week or blasting across open trails at the weekend, upgrading your yamaha ténéré 700 t7 exhaust is one of the most rewarding and cost-effective modifications you can make to transform your riding experience.
Why Upgrade Your Yamaha Ténéré 700 T7 Exhaust?
The stock exhaust fitted to the yamaha ténéré 700 t7 from the factory does a perfectly adequate job, but it’s designed with compromise firmly in mind. Weight targets, strict noise regulations, and mass-market appeal all play a significant role in how the factory silencer is specified and built. When you swap it out for a purpose-built performance can from Max Torque Cans, you immediately notice the difference.
Exhaust gases flow more freely through the system, the engine breathes better throughout the rev range, and mid-range throttle response sharpens up considerably. The result is a more engaging, more rewarding, and ultimately more enjoyable ride every single time you throw a leg over your bike.
Beyond outright performance gains, there’s also the not insignificant visual upgrade to consider. The standard exhaust on the yamaha ténéré 700 t7 is functional but hardly inspiring to look at. Our stainless steel silencer looks the part — purposeful, clean, and beautifully finished, with the kind of quality detailing that complements the T7’s rugged adventure aesthetic rather than fighting against it. It’s a modification that delivers tangible benefits both in how your bike performs and how it presents itself.
What’s Included with Your Yamaha Ténéré 700 T7 Performance Can
This exhaust package has been carefully put together to give you everything you need for a complete, hassle-free fitment. Nothing unnecessary, nothing missing — just a well-engineered kit that lets you get on with the job at hand. Here’s exactly what you’ll receive when you order:
- 1 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel Bent Link Pipe — precision-formed for optimal flow and a perfect OEM-matching fit
- 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — robust and corrosion-resistant, built to last through all conditions
- 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — provides essential vibration damping and protects the mounting points
The link pipe is manufactured from premium 304 stainless steel using CNC mandrel bending techniques, which ensures consistent wall thickness throughout every single bend. This is critically important for optimising exhaust flow — inferior bending methods cause kinks and internal restrictions that strangle performance and negate the benefits of an aftermarket can. With our yamaha ténéré 700 t7 link pipe, you’re getting smooth, unrestricted gas flow from the OEM downpipes right through to the silencer outlet.
The link pipe has also been designed with integrated heat shield brackets built in, meaning you can refit your standard OEM heat shield without any modification, cutting, or fabrication required. This is a thoughtful engineering touch that many aftermarket suppliers overlook entirely, and it means your yamaha ténéré 700 t7 retains the practical heat protection that genuinely matters when you’re in full riding gear on a warm summer day or tackling demanding off-road sections.
Fitment Details for the Yamaha Ténéré 700 T7
This exhaust system is fully compatible with the Yamaha XTZ 700 Ténéré T7 from 2019 onwards, covering all current model years. It fits directly to the standard OEM downpipes with absolutely no cutting, welding, or modification required whatsoever. The link pipe is a direct replacement for the mid-section of your stock exhaust system, and the entire kit is designed to work seamlessly with the factory mounting points — making installation as straightforward as possible whether you’re a seasoned home mechanic or a relatively new spanner enthusiast tackling your first exhaust swap.
If you’re unsure whether this exhaust is the right fit for your specific yamaha ténéré 700 t7 variant, or if you have any questions about compatibility with accessories or luggage setups, feel free to get in touch with the Max Torque Cans team before placing your order. We’re always happy to confirm fitment details and answer any technical questions you might have about the installation process or performance characteristics.
Installing Your Yamaha Ténéré 700 T7 Exhaust — Practical Tips
Fitting this performance can to your yamaha ténéré 700 t7 is a job most riders can confidently tackle at home with basic hand tools and a little mechanical patience. That said, here are a few practical tips and best practices to help you achieve the best possible result:
- Allow the engine to cool completely before starting any work — exhaust components retain heat for far longer than you might expect, especially after spirited riding
- Apply copper anti-seize paste generously to all thread connections before assembly, especially on the link pipe joints and spring hook mounting points. This makes future removal far easier and prevents galling on stainless steel threads
- Hand-tighten all fixings first before fully torquing anything down. This allows you to align the entire exhaust system correctly and check clearances before committing to a final mounting position
- Refit the OEM heat shield using the purpose-built brackets integrated into the link pipe — it’s there for a very good reason and only takes a couple of minutes to reinstall properly
- Run the bike up to full operating temperature once fitted, then allow it to cool completely and check all fixings again for tightness. This is standard best practice with any exhaust fitment and ensures everything beds in properly after the initial heat cycle
Fitting media including detailed photographs and step-by-step video guides are available to help you visualise the entire process and confirm correct installation on your yamaha ténéré 700 t7. Frequently Asked Questions — Yamaha Ténéré 700 T7 Exhaust
Will this exhaust fit my 2022 or 2023 Yamaha Ténéré 700 T7?
Yes, absolutely. This performance can is designed to fit all yamaha ténéré 700 t7 models from 2019 onwards, including the 2022, 2023, and all subsequent model year variants. If your bike is a 2019 or newer XTZ 700, this exhaust will fit perfectly without any modifications required.
Do I need to remap the ECU after fitting this exhaust?
A full remap or ECU flash is not strictly required to run this exhaust safely on your yamaha ténéré 700 t7, and many riders run it very successfully without any fuelling changes. However, for the absolute best possible performance gains and to ensure optimal fuelling across the entire rev range, a dyno tune or ECU flash is always recommended when making any significant exhaust modification. Yamaha Motor Europe provides detailed technical specifications that can help you understand your bike’s fuelling system better.
Is this exhaust road legal in the UK?
Please check current UK regulations and your local authority requirements before fitting any aftermarket exhaust system. It is ultimately your responsibility as the rider and vehicle owner to ensure your yamaha ténéré 700 t7 remains fully compliant with all applicable road traffic legislation and noise limits in your area.
What if I want a higher mounting position for serious off-road use?
If you prefer a high-level exhaust setup for improved ground clearance and better protection during off-road riding, take a look at our Yamaha Ténéré 700 T7 Hi Level option, which offers an alternative mounting configuration that’s ideal for adventure riding and provides significantly added clearance over rough terrain.

The Yamaha Ténéré 700 is a midsize adventure/dual-sport motorcycle manufactured by Yamaha since 2019. It features a 689 cc (42.0 cu in) parallel-twin engine which powers the motorcycle through a six-speed gearbox and chain drive. Brakes are equipped with rider-switchable (on-off) ABS.
History and development
The “baby Ténéré” is the latest in a series of dual-sport Yamaha motorcycles named after the Ténéré desert stage of the Dakar Rally in the Sahara. The successor to Yamaha’s XT660Z Ténéré was first announced as the T7 concept at the 2016 EICMA with an anticipated product launch in 2018. A refined concept was publicized a year later.
Yamaha announced that delivery of bikes would begin in Europe in July 2019, and only the following year to the USA due to emissions and other regulatory delays. The liquid-cooled 4-stroke 8-valve DOHC engine with cross-plane crankshaft was already in use and well-reviewed in Yamaha’s MT-07 standard bike
