The aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005 is one of the most ferociously characterful naked bikes ever to emerge from Noale, and at Max Torque Cans we have engineered a performance exhaust that genuinely honours that reputation. Built around the raw, thunderous 998 cc V-twin that made this machine a legend on both road and track, our can unlocks the power and sound that the standard silencer has been quietly strangling since the day it left the factory. If you want sharper throttle response, a deeper and more visceral exhaust note, and a cleaner, lighter setup beneath your subframe, this is exactly what your Tuono or Fighter has been waiting for.
Why Our Performance Exhaust for the Aprilia RSV Tuono 1000R & Fighter 2002-2005 Stands Apart
At Max Torque Cans, we are riders before we are anything else. Every product we develop starts with a question: what would we actually want on our own bike? That obsession with real-world performance is exactly what shaped this can for the aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005. We did not adapt a generic silencer and call it a day — we engineered this exhaust from the ground up to work specifically with the geometry and exhaust port characteristics of this exact machine.
The result is a noticeably freer-flowing performance exhaust that releases the power already sitting inside that glorious V-twin, delivering gains you will feel from the very first ride. Cheap imported alternatives might look similar in a product photo, but they cannot replicate the fitment precision, material quality, or the acoustic character that comes from a can that has been purpose-built for the aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005. Ours has been designed, tested, and refined right here in the UK to a standard we are genuinely proud to put our name on.
What Is Included in the Aprilia RSV Tuono 1000R & Fighter 2002-2005 Exhaust Kit
Every kit ships complete and ready to fit. There are no missing components, no need to hunt for additional hardware, and no nasty surprises when you open the box. Here is exactly what you will find inside:
- 1 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel-Bent Link Pipe — precision-formed to maintain a consistent internal bore through every bend, ensuring unrestricted gas flow and a measurable improvement in mid-range and top-end performance across the full rev range.
- Spring Hook Fitting — supplied with the link pipe for a secure, rattle-free connection that holds firm mile after mile, regardless of how hard you are riding or how rough the conditions are.
- 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — engineered to hold your can firmly in position, absorbing vibration and preventing unwanted movement under hard acceleration or on poor road surfaces.
- 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — a high-temperature rubber buffer that cushions the strap mounting point, protecting your bodywork and reducing transmitted vibration throughout the ride.
This performance exhaust for the aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005 is designed to mate directly onto the standard OEM downpipes. There is no requirement to modify your existing headers or any other primary pipework. The fitment is clean, precise, and looks every bit as purposeful as it sounds.
Installation Notes for the Aprilia RSV Tuono 1000R & Fighter 2002-2005
Fitting this can is well within the capabilities of any competent home mechanic. You will not need specialist tools — a basic socket set, a torque wrench, and a set of Allen keys will see you through the job comfortably. Always allow the engine and original silencer to cool completely before you begin, and apply a small amount of copper grease to all threaded fasteners and spring hooks. That simple step will make future removal significantly easier and prevent corrosion binding things together over time.
Before placing your order, please confirm your aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005 is running the original OEM downpipes. This kit covers the full production run from 2002 through to 2005. If you have already fitted aftermarket headers, please contact us directly so we can advise on compatibility before you order.
On a completely standard bike, no fuelling changes are required — our cans are developed to deliver genuine performance gains straight out of the box. However, if your aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005 is already running a de-cat pipe or an aftermarket air filter, we strongly recommend having the fuelling mapped by a qualified tuner. Getting the fuelling dialled in to complement your full modification package will always maximise performance, improve efficiency, and ensure the engine runs cleanly throughout the rev range.
Sound, Performance, and Build Quality on the Aprilia RSV Tuono 1000R & Fighter 2002-2005
The standard silencer fitted to the aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005 is a compromise forced upon it by European homologation. It is heavy, restrictive, and acoustically muted in a way that does no justice whatsoever to the character of that V-twin engine. Our performance exhaust strips away that restriction entirely and lets the motor breathe the way it was always meant to.
At low revs you will notice a deeper, more authoritative exhaust note that builds with real intent as the revs climb. Push further up the range and the V-twin delivers a spine-tingling howl that is entirely in keeping with the aggressive, uncompromising character of the aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005. Throttle response sharpens noticeably — particularly in the mid-range where this bike does the vast majority of its real-world work on UK roads. The reduction in unsprung weight over the heavy OEM silencer also brings a subtle but genuine improvement in handling, making the bike feel fractionally more agile and easier to flick direction when the road gets technical.
The grade 304 stainless steel construction means this can will take everything British weather can throw at it, season after season. Unlike mild steel or chrome-plated alternatives, grade 304 stainless resists corrosion, discolouration, and surface pitting over the long term. Your investment will continue to look sharp and perform reliably for many years of hard use, whether that is on the road, the track, or both.
Frequently Asked Questions — Aprilia RSV Tuono 1000R & Fighter 2002-2005
Will this exhaust fit my 2003 or 2004 model?
Yes. This performance exhaust covers the complete production run of the aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005, including all model years from 2002 through to 2005. Provided your bike retains the standard OEM downpipes, it will fit directly without any modification.
Do I need a remap after fitting?
If your aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005 is running in standard form, a remap is not essential. Our cans are developed specifically to offer real gains on a stock bike. That said, if you are combining this can with a de-cat or aftermarket air filter, investing in a professional remap will always unlock the full benefit of your modifications and ensure the engine runs cleanly throughout the rev range.
How much lighter is this can than the standard silencer?
Our stainless performance exhaust is considerably lighter than the heavy cast OEM silencer fitted to the aprilia rsv tuono 1000r & fighter 2002-2005 as standard. The weight saving contributes to a genuine improvement in handling feel, particularly when the bike is being worked hard through technical sections of road or track.
Can I see and hear this exhaust before I order?
Absolutely. We have a gallery of real fitment images available via our Flickr album and a selection of sound and installation videos on our YouTube channel — both are linked on this page. We are proud of what we produce and want you to be completely confident before you place your order.

Design
The current Aprilia Tuono is designed as a streetfighter with a lot of electronic aids such as multi-level traction control, ABS, Wheelie control, launch control, and AQS(Aprilia Quick Shift electronic System). Since 2002, a lot of changes have been made but the basics character of the bike almost remains almost the same.
2002 Aprilia Tuono R Limited
Following the 2001 Bologna Motor Show, the Aprilia Tuono made its debut in a series of 220 individually numbered bikes. Called the Tuono R Limited and in hindsight is a proof of concept for the future RSV Tuono Factory, it had the 94.9 kW (129.0 PS; 127.3 hp) engine of the RSV Mille R, a gold-colored frame and was built solely out of high-end materials such as carbon fiber, kevlar, and titanium. Specs included Öhlins Racing suspension, OZ forged alloy wheels, Brembo 4-pad brake calipers, and an Aprilia Racing titanium exhaust system with matching EEPROM.
2002 – 2005 RSV Tuono (known as the Tuono Fighter for 2003 in the US market)
The roots of the RSV Tuono lie with the 1998 – 2003 RSV Mille superbike. The original 2003-2005 RSV Tuono uses the 2002 Mille frame, engine, suspension, and brakes. The majority of parts are interchangeable between Mille and Tuono models up until the introduction of the RSV 1000 R which replaced the Mille. One minor difference is that the RSV Tuono is fitted with a steering damper as standard whereas the RSV Mille is not. The reason for this is to avoid potential speed wobble under full acceleration due to the motocross-style handlebars atop high machined ergal risers causing the rider to sit more upright, resulting in less weight over the front wheel. The main difference is the lack of significant bodywork (fairings).
The base model Tuono (known as the Tuono Fighter in the US market for 2003 and as the RSV Tuono for the 2004-2005 models) and the high spec Tuono Factory all share the same frame-mounted bikini fairing and body covers, either in plastic for the base model or carbon fibre for the Factory models. The frame and swingarm of the 2003 Tuono (Tuono Fighter in the US market) was a light bronze color, whereas the 2004 and 2005 models sported a black frame and swingarm. This contrasted with the frames used on the RSV Mille which were a chrome finish for the base models and black for the Racing/Factory models. The Tuono base models feature an adjustable Sachs rear shock absorber and Showa front suspension.
The RSV Tuono uses the Austrian built BRP-Rotax V990 60° V-Twin engine which can also be found in numerous other Aprilia models. It sports dual overhead cams, double balance shafts, 4 valves per cylinder, electronic fuel injection, twin spark ignition, and the same two-into-one exhaust as used on the RSV Mille. In the RSV Tuono, the V990 delivers 92 kW (125 PS; 123 hp) @ 9500 rpm and 10.3 kg⋅m (101 N⋅m; 75 lb-ft) @ 7250 rpm.[citation needed] Its fuel tank will hold 18 L (4.8 gals) and has a maximum range of 280 km (175 mi) on the highway before the low fuel indicator turns on. Fuel consumption increases significantly with aggressive throttle use.
2003 – 2005 RSV Tuono Factory
The RSV Tuono Factory is a high spec model based upon the Aprilia RSV Mille R. Compared to the standard RSV Tuono it has forged alloy wheels, gold anodized Öhlins Racing front forks, fully adjustable Öhlins Racing rear mono-shock, a fully adjustable Öhlins Racing steering damper, radially mounted Brembo brake calipers and it extensively uses carbon fiber parts for weight reduction.
