This is not merely a replacement silencer; it is a carefully considered upgrade that celebrates the heritage and spirit of a truly exceptional motorcycle.

Why Choose a Max Torque Cans Exhaust for Your Honda CBR400 Gull Arm NC29?

At Max Torque Cans, we reject off-the-shelf guesswork in favour of precision engineering. Every performance can we manufacture is developed with a specific model in mind, and the honda cbr400 gull arm nc29 receives the same painstaking attention to detail as every bike in our extensive catalogue. We understand that NC29 owners are deeply passionate about their machines—these riders demand a performance exhaust built to the same exacting standards as Honda’s original engineers intended, or better.

Our exhausts are crafted from premium-grade stainless steel, ensuring exceptional longevity, outstanding resistance to corrosion, and a finish that looks absolutely stunning whether you are parked up at a classic motorcycle meet or carving through winding country lanes.

The NC29 Gull Arm generation of the CBR400 is widely regarded as one of Honda’s finest engineering achievements of the late 1980s and early 1990s. With its sophisticated gull-arm swingarm design, advanced twin-spar aluminium frame, and gloriously free-revving inline-four engine, it was a motorcycle genuinely ahead of its time. Our performance exhaust complements that engineering excellence with a deep, purposeful note that turns heads at every traffic light without being antisocially loud or intrusive.

The result is a perfect balance—a soundtrack that enhances your enjoyment without alienating fellow road users or attracting unwanted attention from authorities.

Product Features: Honda CBR400 Gull Arm NC29 Performance Exhaust System

Our exhaust for the honda cbr400 gull arm nc29 arrives packed with features that make installation straightforward and the end result genuinely outstanding. Here is precisely what you will find included in the box:

  • 3 Bolt Fitting — a secure, rattle-free connection to the standard downpipes for a solid, professional finish every single time
  • 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — included as standard, this robust stainless strap provides the secondary mounting point needed for rock-solid fitment
  • 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — the rubber insert protects your can from vibration damage and helps reduce unwanted noise resonance transmitted through the frame

This performance exhaust is engineered to fit directly onto the standard OEM downpipes, meaning there is absolutely no need for costly additional modifications, specialist fabrication work, or custom adapters. If your NC29 still retains the original downpipes in serviceable condition, this can will slip straight on with minimal fuss. Clean, simple, and remarkably effective—precisely how a quality bolt-on upgrade should be.

The stainless steel construction means this exhaust will comfortably outlast lesser alternatives and maintain its mirror shine even through the worst of British winters. Stainless is the material of choice for discerning riders who want a can that performs brilliantly year after year and still looks absolutely pristine years down the line. According to Motorcycle News, stainless steel exhausts offer the best balance of durability, weight, and aesthetic appeal for performance applications—making them the gold standard for serious riders.

Fitment Notes for the Honda CBR400 Gull Arm NC29

Getting the fitment absolutely right on the honda cbr400 gull arm nc29 is straightforward when you follow a few basic principles and best practices. Before fitting your new exhaust, we always recommend thoroughly checking the condition of your existing OEM downpipes. If there is any visible corrosion, distortion, or damage to the collector flange, it is absolutely worth addressing this issue before fitting a new can—doing so will ensure a better seal, prevent exhaust leaks, and guarantee a longer service life for your new silencer.

The 3 bolt fitting on this exhaust is specifically designed to match the standard NC29 collector configuration perfectly, so no drilling, welding, or fabrication should be required whatsoever. Simply fit the stainless exhaust strap securely to the rear mounting point, insert the rubber grommet to protect against vibration, and torque everything up to a sensible level using a calibrated torque wrench.

We strongly recommend using copper grease or anti-seize compound on the joining faces to prevent the joint seizing over time—a small detail that pays enormous dividends when you eventually need to remove the can for servicing or winter storage.

For comprehensive visual reference, we have assembled a dedicated photo album on Flickr showing the exhaust fitted to the honda cbr400 gull arm nc29, so you can see exactly how the finished installation looks before you commit to a purchase. We have also produced a detailed YouTube video walkthrough that takes you through the key installation steps, giving you complete confidence before you even pick up a spanner.

This level of support is what sets Max Torque Cans apart from competitors who simply sell parts without proper guidance.

To Make sure that you are shopping for the correct Model exhaust here is some information about this model.

The Honda CBR400 is a Japanese domestic market small-capacity sport motorcycle, part of the CBR series introduced by Honda in 1983. It is the first Honda motorcycle to wear a CBR badge.

The CBR400R (NC17 ) naked bike was launched in December 1983. The 4-valves per cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, inline-four engine had a rotational-speed valve stop mechanism “REV” (a prototype of Honda’s VTEC system) that changed from two valves into four valves at 9,500 rpm. The following two years, it came as a semi- and fully-faired version as the F3 Endurance. The CBR400R and early CBR400RR models both carry the model number NC23, which makes up the first part of these bikes’ frame numbers.[citation needed] In 1986 the CBR400R was also known as Aero, Jellymould, as it shares its major design features with the rest of the early CBR600F and CBR1000F Hurricane family of motorcycles, which included significantly rounded body shapes. whereas the later 1988 model was designated CBR400RR and was also known as the Tri-Arm, after its racing-inspired braced swingarm.

The original CBR400F as a naked bike.
The CBR400RR in 1992 was referred to as the ‘Baby Blade’ replica, then in 1994 it was styled to closely look like the CBR900RR or Fireblade motorcycle. though over the years, in performance and handling it was more closely compared to the CBR600. The CBR400RR preceded the 900 cc (55 cu in) Fireblade by four model years, going through one major rework (signified by a new “gull-arm” swing arm design.

The CBR400RR models are the NC23 and NC29 CBR400RR-J (1988), CBR400RR-K (1989), CBR400RR-L (1990–1991), CBR400RR-N (1992–1993) and CBR400RR-R (1994). The name “Tri-Arm” is shown on the CBR400RR-J’s bodywork, along with Hurricane, but the CBR400RR-K dropped the latter designation.

Honda CBR400RR-K in Repsol livery.
The NC23 CBR400RR features a standard extruded beam frame, the rear of the seat unit slopes forwards, and the seat unit subframe is totally separate from the main chassis of the bike. The NC23 & NC29 (only the -R models of which carry the FireBlade name) had several modifications to the frame. The main rails were of a ‘cranked’ design, the seat support structure had a larger rail that was welded to the frame, the rear of the tail section now had a slight recurve to it, and the swingarm was given a gull-wing shape on one side to give ground clearance for the exhaust link pipe
