The bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 stands as one of the most accomplished sport-touring motorcycles to emerge from BMW’s Munich workshops, combining the long-legged comfort of a true tourer with the handling precision and pace of a genuine sports machine. If you’re looking to elevate your riding experience and unlock the true character of that magnificent flat-twin boxer engine, a performance exhaust upgrade from Max Torque Cans is one of the most rewarding modifications you can invest in.
Our purpose-engineered exhaust package for the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 delivers a deeper, more characterful exhaust note, a cleaner visual profile, and factory-quality fitment that ensures a hassle-free installation. Whether you’re a seasoned home mechanic or a weekend rider keen to add a personal touch to your machine, this is the upgrade your RS has been waiting for.
Why Upgrade Your bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 Exhaust System?
The standard silencer fitted to the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 does a perfectly adequate job of keeping noise levels within strict European regulations and maintaining production costs across BMW’s global manufacturing footprint. But “adequate” isn’t really what motorcycling is about, is it? The factory unit is designed for compliance and economy, not for showcasing the unique sonic signature that a horizontally opposed twin-cylinder engine can produce.
When you swap out that standard can for a Max Torque performance exhaust, the transformation is immediate and deeply satisfying — a throatier, more purposeful exhaust note that announces your arrival with authority and gives the bike a personality that reflects the spirit of the rider.
Beyond the aural enhancement, there are tangible practical benefits too. Shedding the weight of the stock silencer lightens the rear end of your bmw r1200rs 2015-2018, contributing to a more agile feel through fast direction changes and tightening corners. The cleaner, sportier lines of an aftermarket performance can also improve the visual profile of the bike, complementing the aerodynamic fairing and purposeful stance that define the R1200RS model range.
It’s an upgrade that rewards you every single time you twist the throttle.
What’s Included in the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 Exhaust Package?
At Max Torque Cans, we believe in providing everything you need to complete the installation properly, with no need to source additional hardware or make last-minute trips to the local fastener supplier. Every bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 exhaust package we dispatch includes the following precision-engineered components:
- 1 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel Bent Link Pipe — Precision engineered from high-grade 304 stainless steel, renowned for its exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance in high-temperature exhaust applications. The CNC mandrel bending process ensures consistent wall thickness throughout every curve, maintaining optimal gas flow and preventing the turbulence that robs power and disrupts exhaust gas scavenging.
- 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — A robust mounting strap crafted from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, designed to keep everything secure and vibration-free, even during spirited riding on challenging roads.
- 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — A quality rubber isolator that cushions the silencer mounting point, absorbing vibration and protecting both the can and your bike’s frame from unnecessary stress and fatigue over time.
This carefully curated kit ensures that your bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 receives a complete, professional-grade installation without the need for any additional hardware, modifications, or improvisation. Everything is included, everything fits precisely, and everything is built to last the lifetime of your motorcycle.
Fitment Details for the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018
One of the most critical aspects of any aftermarket exhaust upgrade is achieving perfect fitment. A poor fit leads to rattles, exhaust leaks, and the kind of frustration that spoils the enjoyment of an otherwise excellent modification. Our exhaust system for the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 is designed to bolt straight onto the standard OEM downpipes with no modifications, cutting, welding, or head-scratching required.
The link pipe has been specifically profiled and dimensioned to match BMW’s original specifications for the 2015 to 2018 model years, ensuring a secure, gas-tight seal and proper alignment with the factory mounting points.
Please note that this exhaust is compatible with the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 model years only — please ensure your bike falls within this production window before ordering. If you’re unsure about compatibility or have any questions regarding fitment to your specific machine, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team directly and we’ll confirm everything for you.
Installation Notes — Fitting Your bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 Performance Exhaust
Installing your new performance exhaust is a satisfying and straightforward process for anyone with basic mechanical confidence and a reasonable toolkit. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect during the installation:
- Allow the engine to cool completely before beginning work. The stock silencer and downpipes retain heat for a surprisingly long time after use, and working on hot components is both dangerous and uncomfortable.
- Remove the standard OEM silencer by unbolting the mounting hardware. Keep the original fixings safely stored in case they’re needed in future.
- Fit the stainless link pipe to the OEM downpipes, checking the seating and alignment before tightening any fasteners. A small amount of high-temperature exhaust jointing paste at the joint is recommended for a gas-tight seal.
- Attach the new silencer to the link pipe and secure it using the included stainless exhaust strap and rubber isolator, ensuring proper alignment with the mounting bracket.
- Torque all fixings to the manufacturer’s recommended settings, then run the engine briefly to check for any leaks or unusual noises before heading out on the road.
As with any exhaust work on the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018, we recommend using appropriate heat-resistant gloves, working in a well-ventilated space, and taking your time to ensure everything is correctly aligned. If you’re not confident carrying out the work yourself, any competent motorcycle mechanic will have this sorted in well under an hour.
Material Quality and Engineering Excellence
We use 304 grade stainless steel throughout the link pipe for a very good reason — it’s the benchmark material for high-temperature exhaust applications. According to Akrapovic’s technical resources, 304 stainless steel offers excellent resistance to the thermal cycling that exhausts endure every single time you ride, resisting discolouration, scaling, and corrosion far better than mild steel alternatives.
The CNC mandrel bending process we employ is equally important: by supporting the inside of the tube during the bending process, we preserve the pipe’s circular cross-section and internal diameter, ensuring smooth, unrestricted gas flow from the downpipes to the silencer on your bmw r1200rs 2015-2018.
This level of material and manufacturing quality means your investment should last the lifetime of the bike with normal care — a genuine long-term upgrade rather than a disposable modification that will need replacing in a few seasons.
See It and Hear It — Media for the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018

Frequently Asked Questions — bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 Exhaust
Will this fit my bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 without any modifications?
Yes, absolutely. This exhaust package is designed to fit directly onto the standard OEM downpipes of the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 with no cutting, drilling, or welding required. Everything you need for a clean, professional installation is included in the kit.
Does the silencer require any additional mounting hardware?
No — the stainless exhaust strap and rubber isolator are included in the kit, so you won’t need to source any extra hardware. For the link pipe connection itself, we recommend using a small amount of high-temperature exhaust jointing paste for the best seal, but this is optional.
Will this exhaust affect my bike’s warranty or require a remap?
Fitting an aftermarket exhaust to the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018 may affect your manufacturer’s warranty — we recommend checking with your BMW dealer if your bike is still under warranty. Regarding remapping, a slip-on performance exhaust of this nature may not require a full ECU remap, but some riders do choose to have their fuelling adjusted to complement the freer-flowing exhaust.
We recommend consulting a BMW specialist or authorised dyno tuner for advice specific to your setup and riding style.
Is this product suitable for track use?
This exhaust is primarily designed and sold for road use on the bmw r1200rs 2015-2018. For track days, please check the specific noise regulations of your circuit, as requirements vary significantly from venue to venue across the UK and Europe.
