The ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013 stands as one of the finest supermoto motorcycles ever to emerge from Austria, combining raw V-twin power with nimble handling and that distinctive KTM character. When you fit a performance exhaust from Max Torque Cans, you unlock a new dimension of sound, style, and performance that transforms every ride.
Whether you’re carving through twisty B-roads, commuting through urban traffic, or enjoying spirited weekend blasts, our bolt-on exhaust can elevates the SM 950 experience in ways that have to be heard and felt to be fully appreciated. We’ve engineered this silencer specifically for KTM enthusiasts who demand genuine quality, straightforward fitment, and that distinctive deep exhaust note that turns heads wherever you ride.
Why Choose a Max Torque Cans Exhaust for Your ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013?
At Max Torque Cans, we recognise that KTM riders expect nothing less than exceptional performance, bulletproof durability, and an exhaust tone that does justice to the 950cc LC8 engine’s formidable character. Our performance can for the ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013 delivers on all fronts. Constructed from premium-grade stainless steel, this exhaust is built to withstand the demanding conditions of year-round British motorcycling — from salt-laden winter roads to the heat and grime of summer track days.
The stainless steel construction ensures outstanding corrosion resistance, meaning your exhaust will maintain its appearance and structural integrity long after cheaper alternatives have succumbed to rust and degradation.
Beyond the robust build quality, the sound profile this silencer produces is genuinely exhilarating. The deep, purposeful exhaust note perfectly complements the 950’s characterful twin-cylinder engine, delivering visceral audio feedback every time you open the throttle. Riders who have fitted our can to their ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013 consistently report a transformation in the bike’s character — it feels more responsive, sounds more aggressive, and looks significantly more purposeful.
The weight saving over the stock exhaust also contributes to improved handling characteristics, particularly noticeable when flicking the bike through tight corners or navigating technical sections.
Our exhaust design prioritises both performance and practicality. The internal baffle configuration has been carefully developed to enhance exhaust gas flow whilst maintaining an acceptable noise level for road use. The result is a noticeable improvement in throttle response and mid-range power delivery, alongside that addictive exhaust note. According to Motorcycle News, aftermarket exhausts can deliver measurable performance gains when properly designed and fitted, and our extensive testing on the SM 950 platform confirms these benefits.

The exhaust is designed to fit directly onto the standard OEM downpipes of the ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013 — no cutting, no welding, and absolutely no modifications required. It’s a genuine bolt-on solution, meaning even riders with basic mechanical skills can complete the installation at home using standard workshop tools. The three-bolt connection system ensures a gas-tight seal and rattle-free fitment that remains secure even under hard riding conditions and extreme vibration.
Fitment and Compatibility for the ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013
Achieving perfect fitment is crucial when upgrading your exhaust, and we’ve eliminated all guesswork from the process. This silencer is engineered specifically for the ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013 model range and connects directly to the standard factory downpipes without requiring any adaptation or modification. The three-bolt slip-on fitting ensures a tight, secure connection that eliminates exhaust leaks and maintains optimal back pressure for performance.
The included stainless steel exhaust straps and accompanying rubber insulators provide rock-solid support for the can, preventing unwanted movement whilst protecting the underside of the silencer from vibration-induced damage. These rubbers are particularly important — they act as a cushioning buffer between the metal strap and the exhaust body, reducing vibration transfer and significantly extending the service life of your new exhaust. The mounting system has been tested extensively on the SM 950 platform to ensure long-term reliability under all riding conditions.

Installing Your ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013 Performance Can
One of the most significant advantages of our exhaust for the ktm sm 950 2005 – 2013 is the straightforward installation process. You won’t need specialist tools or an expensive trip to your local KTM dealer — just some time, a basic socket set, and a willingness to get hands-on with your bike. Here’s what to expect:
- Allow the motorcycle to cool completely before starting any exhaust work — hot exhausts can cause serious burns
- Remove the original silencer from the OEM downpipe by undoing the existing clamp or mounting bolts
- Slide the new Max Torque Cans silencer onto the downpipe and carefully align the three-bolt fitting
- Attach the stainless steel exhaust straps and fit the rubber insulators to properly support the can
- Torque all fixings to the correct specification and double-check everything before starting the engine
- Start the bike and check for any exhaust leaks around the joint — a small amount of smoke initially is normal as manufacturing oils burn off
The complete installation typically takes less than an hour for a competent home mechanic. For additional guidance, we’ve produced detailed YouTube videos showing the fitting process step-by-step on the SM 950, so there’s no need to work anything out as you go. Our Flickr photo album also provides comprehensive visual documentation of the fitment, finish, and overall appearance of the can mounted on the bike.

To Make sure that you are shopping for the correct Model exhaust here is some information about this model.
The KTM 950 Super Enduro R (known as the 950SE or the SE) is a dual-sport motorcycle produced from 2006 to 2008. It is equipped with a 98-horsepower, four-stroke, V-twin engine, adjustable heavy-duty offroad suspension, and enduro styling. Due to its lightweight and off-road-capable profile, the 950SE was perceived at its launch as a radical departure from any existing dual-sport, enduro, or street bike models, while having characteristics of all three.
Marketed by KTM, its Austrian manufacturer, as a race-ready enduro machine, the 950SE embodies minimalist design principles. Equipped with twin carburetors instead of electronic fuel injection, it also lacks ABS, traction control, a fuel gauge, or a tachometer. Its dual silencers are upswept, with the front cylinder’s exhaust header routed beside the engine, in the manner of smaller enduro and dirt bikes. The one-piece plastic fuel tank is of relatively low capacity, and the seat is comparably tall at 920mm (36.22 inches).
With its six-speed transmission and stock wheels, the 950SE is capable of speeds in excess of 190km/h (118mph).
The 950SE is claimed to be one of the most powerful and “intense” enduro motorcycles. Yet, in spite of its power, loud and deep exhaust note, and fierce acceleration capabilities, the 950SE is lauded for its all-round performance and rider comfort, whether on- or off-pavement.
In his review of the 2008 model, motorcycle journalist Neil Johnson of OneWheelDrive, said, “the KTM 950 Super Enduro R is pure delightful lunacy.” The article’s headline was sub-titled “The cure for common sense.”
Approximately 3,000 units were produced and sold internationally for model years 2006-200. KTM discontinued the model in 2009.
Since before its discontinuation, the 950SE is coveted, achieving “legend” status among owners and enthusiasts, including offroad and rally-racing champions such as New Zealander Chris Birch: “In my mind, the 950 Super Enduro is the best hooligan’s bike KTM ever made.”
The 950SE’s 942cc engine, known as the LC-8, was designed by KTM engineers to power the company’s 950 Factory Rally racer to compete in the 2002 Dakar Rally. In contrast to KTM’s first LC-8-equipped consumer model, the 950 Adventure, modeled on the Dakar bike, the 950SE had higher ground clearance, a different steering head angle, and rake, with a more-aggressive adjustable WP suspension, as well as the distinctive look and ride of an “oversized” enduro bike.
At the time of the 950SE’s launch, the dual-sport market was dominated by slower heavier “compromise” bikes. But the KTM appealed to aficionados as a “no-compromise” motorcycle. On rider forums, owners frequently praise the SE as a “high-adrenaline” machine, and it can be ridden out of the city, onto the highway, and into challenging terrains such as water crossings, boulder fields, steep hill-climbs, single-track trails, rutted tracks, mudholes, and deep sand, then rode home again at highway speed, remaining equally at-ease and comfortable to ride through such widely-varying conditions.
The 950 SE was the third consumer model to use the LC-8 engine after the KTM 950 Adventure and 950 SuperMoto. It shares several components of the latter, but the SE was significantly-modified to suit its intended purpose.
