Complete Honda VTR1000 SP1 RC51 RVT1000R Exhaust Package Contents

Every exhaust kit we supply for the honda vtr1000 sp1 rc51 rvt1000r arrives complete with everything required for a clean, professional installation. There’s no hunting for additional components or making compromises with mismatched hardware—it’s all included and ready for fitting. Here’s exactly what your package contains:

  • 2 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel Bent Link Pipes — manufactured from premium-grade 304 stainless steel, these link pipes are precision-bent using CNC mandrel technology to guarantee a consistent internal diameter throughout every bend. This maintains optimal exhaust gas velocity and eliminates the flow restrictions inherent in cheaper crush-bent alternatives.
  • 2 x Stainless Exhaust Straps — robust stainless steel mounting straps engineered to provide secure, rattle-free installation, keeping your exhaust system precisely positioned even under aggressive acceleration and sustained high temperatures.
  • 2 x Exhaust Strap Rubbers — high-quality vibration-dampening rubber insulators that protect both the exhaust components and the motorcycle frame from unwanted movement and excessive heat transfer, significantly extending the operational lifespan of the entire system.

This carefully curated package ensures that honda vtr1000 sp1 rc51 rvt1000r owners receive a hassle-free, bolt-on solution that delivers on both aesthetics and performance without compromise.

Precise Fitment for Your Honda VTR1000 SP1 RC51 RVT1000R

Accurate fitment represents the foundation of any quality performance exhaust, and this kit has been engineered with that precision as the primary objective. This exhaust system is manufactured to fit directly onto the standard OEM downpipes of the honda vtr1000 sp1 rc51 rvt1000r—meaning absolutely no cutting, no welding, and no modifications to your existing setup are necessary.

It’s a genuine straight-fit solution that respects the integrity of your original motorcycle whilst dramatically enhancing both visual appeal and acoustic character.

The honda vtr1000 sp1 rc51 rvt1000r enjoyed a relatively brief but celebrated production run, and these link pipes are specifically engineered to match the exact OEM dimensions of those 2000 and 2001 models. If you’re uncertain whether this kit suits your specific build date or configuration, please don’t hesitate to contact the Max Torque Cans team—we’re always happy to confirm compatibility before you place your order.

The 304 stainless steel construction means this exhaust will withstand the considerable thermal stress generated by the VTR1000’s 999cc 90-degree V-twin engine without warping, corroding, or losing its polished appearance over time. According to Motorcycle News, proper exhaust system selection significantly impacts both performance and longevity, which is why we’ve chosen materials that represent a genuine long-term investment in your machine, not merely a cosmetic quick fix.

Installation Guidance for the Honda VTR1000 SP1 RC51 RVT1000R Exhaust System

Installing your new exhaust on the honda vtr1000 sp1 rc51 rvt1000r is a straightforward process, particularly if you possess basic mechanical experience and access to appropriate tools. Because this kit fits directly to the OEM downpipes, the installation avoids the complexity frequently associated with full aftermarket systems. Here are several practical recommendations to help you achieve the best possible result:

  • Allow the engine to cool completely before commencing any removal work. Existing exhaust components and downpipes retain heat for considerable periods after use.
  • Apply penetrating oil to any corroded or seized fixings well before attempting removal. The SP1’s OEM clamps and bolts can seize over time, particularly on older machines.
  • Check all joints for proper alignment before final tightening. Small adjustments during the fitting stage can prevent unwanted vibration or unwelcome noise once the motorcycle is running.
  • Torque all fasteners to the manufacturer’s specification and re-check them following the first heat cycle. Stainless steel fittings can sometimes settle slightly once exposed to operational temperatures.
  • Fit the exhaust strap rubbers correctly to ensure proper vibration absorption. These seemingly minor components make a significant difference to long-term durability and rider comfort.

If you’re an experienced home mechanic, you’ll likely have this exhaust fitted and ready to ride in well under an hour. For those less confident with mechanical work, any local dealer or independent motorcycle workshop will make short work of the installation.

The Honda RC51, also known as the RVT1000R (in the United States) or VTR1000 SP1 (Europe and Australia), is a 90° V-twin motorcycle produced by Honda from 2000 to 2006.[3] Built by Honda to prove a point that Honda could outsmart Ducati on the track using a V-Twin.

The RC51 was designed as the motorcycle to be used by Honda’s racing teams in the Superbike World Championship.[5] The 2000–2001 models are designated SP1, while the 2002–2006 models are designated SP2 (the latter having updated fuel injection and suspension systems).

1988–2002 In 1988, new rules in superbike racing allowed V-twin engines up to 999 cc to compete. Prior to the rules change, 750 cc four-cylinder motorcycles were the dominant force in production based competition. During the first two years of the World Superbike championship, Honda won the series with their RC30, powered by a 750 cc V-4. In 1990, however, Raymond Roche secured Ducati’s first world title aboard the Ducati 851. Throughout the next 11 years, Ducati would go on to win 8 World Superbike Championships with their V-twins (Honda won two and Kawasaki just one).

Honda was unable to win consistently, particularly because of rival V-twins’ displacement advantage over Honda’s V-4. In 2000 Honda released the RC51, powered by a 999 cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. That year, it won the World Superbike Championship with Colin Edwards riding for the Castrol team. In 2001, Ducati regained the title but the RC51 was still a contender boasting superior reliability with comparable speed and power. The RC51 won again in its final year of factory-supported racing in World Superbike in 2002 after Edwards’ tremendous title fight with Troy Bayliss and that same year also captured the AMA Superbike title with Nicky Hayden. Honda had taken the lessons learned in the SP-1’s first season, producing the SP-2 for 2002. A stronger, more rigid frame and swingarm were identical to the WSB race bike parts and engine modifications boosted peak power by 3 kW (4 bhp) and cut weight by 5 kg (11 lb). Factory specifications for road-going SP-2s (sourced from Honda) were 133 bhp with a top speed of 168 mph.

Our commitment to adhering to regulations is evident in our product design and labelling, and hence with new updates from ACEM, DVSA and DfT, we are ensuring our exhaust systems are compliant with new and upcoming legislation and regulations. Specifically, two changes detailed below:

Road Legal Exhausts: Our road legal exhausts will have the BSAU stamped markings and be crafted with non-removable baffles, aligning seamlessly with the standards set by ACEM (European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers). These baffles are an integral part of our design to ensure that your motorcycle exhaust complies with road regulations, providing you with a legal and enjoyable riding experience.

Race Exhausts and Silencers:  For those seeking an exhilarating experience on the track, our race exhausts are engineered to deliver optimal performance. Clearly marked with type approval markings “Not for Road Use” etched into the side, these exhausts are specifically designed for racing applications. This distinction is in line with DVSA policy, ensuring that our race exhausts are suitable for track use, meeting the highest performance standards without compromising on safety.
