Designed and supplied by one of the UK’s most trusted names in motorcycle performance cans, this bolt-on silencer delivers a genuinely impressive upgrade over the standard factory unit — without the hassle of complex modifications or specialist tools.
Whether you ride the GT650R or the GT650 Comet, this exhaust has been built specifically to suit your machine, offering a direct OEM downpipe fitment and a finish that looks as good as it sounds.
At Max Torque Cans, we know that Hyosung riders are passionate about their machines. The GT650 platform is a seriously capable motorcycle, and fitting the right performance can is one of the most rewarding upgrades you can make. A deeper, more aggressive exhaust note, improved kerb appeal, and a quality stainless steel construction that stands up to the British weather — this silencer ticks every box for the discerning Hyosung owner.
Product Features: Hyosung GT650R and GT650 Comet Performance Exhaust
This exhaust has been engineered with both function and aesthetics in mind. Here’s what you get when you order from Max Torque Cans:
- Direct bolt-on fitment — designed to fit straight onto the standard OEM downpipes of the hyosung gt650r and gt650 comet, so there’s no cutting, welding, or fabrication required.
- 3-bolt fixing — a secure three-bolt connection ensures a firm, rattle-free mount that won’t let you down on longer rides or during spirited cornering.
- 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — a high-quality stainless steel strap is included in the box for a solid, reliable installation.
- 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — the rubber isolator is also included, helping to reduce vibration transmission and protect both the strap and the can over time.
- Quality construction — built to withstand the rigours of everyday riding, including exposure to rain, road grime, and heat cycling.
- Improved exhaust note — enjoy a more characterful, throatier sound from your Hyosung without going excessively loud or antisocial.
- Lightweight design — manufactured from high-grade stainless steel, this performance can reduces weight compared to the standard factory silencer while maintaining structural integrity and longevity.
Everything you need for the installation is included in the package, making this one of the most straightforward upgrades available for the Hyosung GT650R and GT650 Comet. Simply remove the old silencer, offer up the new can, bolt it into place using the three-bolt connection and secure it with the provided strap and rubber, and you’re ready to ride.
The performance benefits are immediately noticeable, with improved throttle response and a more engaging exhaust note that truly brings the V-twin character of your Hyosung to life.
Fitment Guide for the Hyosung GT650R and GT650 Comet (2004 onwards)
This performance can is specifically designed for the hyosung gt650r and gt650 comet manufactured from 2004 onwards. The direct OEM downpipe compatibility means you won’t need to source any additional adaptors or brackets — the can is engineered to slot in exactly where your original silencer sat. This precision fitment is crucial for maintaining proper clearances around your rear wheel, swingarm, and any luggage or panniers you might be running.
Before fitting, we always recommend doing a quick visual check on your existing downpipes to ensure they are in good condition and free from significant corrosion or damage at the connection point. A light smear of copper grease on the joint before fitting will help prevent the connection from seizing up over time, which is particularly useful in the UK climate where salt and moisture can cause havoc with exhaust fixings.
Installation Steps for the Hyosung GT650R and GT650 Comet
- Allow the engine and existing exhaust to cool fully before starting work — exhaust components can remain dangerously hot for up to an hour after riding.
- Remove the OEM silencer by undoing the three bolts at the downpipe connection and releasing the support strap.
- Offer up the new Max Torque Cans silencer and align it with the downpipe outlet, ensuring the angle and position match the original fitment.
- Insert the three bolts and tighten evenly to avoid distorting the joint — finger tight first, then torque up in sequence to the manufacturer’s recommended specification.
- Fit the supplied stainless exhaust strap and rubber to the mounting point on the frame or subframe, securing the rear of the can firmly in position.
- Start the engine and check for any leaks at the joint before heading out for a test ride — a small amount of smoke or smell is normal as any protective coatings burn off during the first heat cycle.
Most riders with basic mechanical confidence can complete this installation in under an hour using common tools. No remap or fuelling adjustment is typically required for a slip-on silencer on the Hyosung GT650R and GT650 Comet, though if you’re also making other modifications at the same time it’s always worth reviewing your fuelling setup with a qualified technician or dyno specialist.
Why Choose Max Torque Cans for Your Hyosung GT650R and GT650 Comet?
We’ve been supplying performance exhausts and cans to UK motorcycle enthusiasts for years, and we understand what riders actually want: quality components at fair prices, with the confidence that the product will fit and perform as described. Every exhaust we sell for the hyosung gt650r and gt650 comet is selected for its build quality and fitment accuracy — we’re not interested in selling you something that needs hours of fettling to fit properly.
Our customers regularly return to us for exhausts across their garage, and we stock options for a wide range of Hyosung models. If you also own or are shopping for a smaller Hyosung, take a look at our Hyosung GT250R AND GT250 Comet exhaust range, which offers the same high-quality bolt-on performance cans for the 250cc platform.
We also supply exhausts for the entry-level Hyosung range — check out the options available for the Hyosung GT125R AND GT125 Comet if you’re buying for a learner or newer rider.
Performance exhaust systems are subject to regulations in the UK, and it’s important to ensure any modifications comply with current noise and emissions standards. For detailed information on motorcycle exhaust regulations and testing procedures, we recommend consulting the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which provides comprehensive guidance on vehicle modifications and MOT requirements.
Key Benefits of Upgrading Your Hyosung GT650R and GT650 Comet Exhaust
Beyond the immediate improvement in sound and aesthetics, fitting a quality aftermarket exhaust to your Hyosung brings several practical advantages. Weight reduction is one of the most significant — many OEM silencers are built to a price point and use heavier materials than necessary. By switching to a performance can, you’re reducing unsprung weight at the rear of the bike, which can improve handling characteristics and make the motorcycle feel more responsive through direction changes.
The improved exhaust flow characteristics also allow the engine to breathe more efficiently, particularly in the mid-range where the GT650’s V-twin engine produces its most usable power. While a slip-on silencer won’t transform your bike into a race weapon, the cumulative effect of reduced back pressure and weight savings creates a noticeably more engaging riding experience.
The enhanced exhaust note also provides better audible feedback when changing gear or rolling on the throttle, which many riders find improves their connection with the machine.
From an aesthetic perspective, the visual impact of a quality stainless steel performance can cannot be overstated. The standard Hyosung exhaust is functional but unremarkable, whereas a well-finished aftermarket silencer adds a touch of premium quality to your bike’s appearance. Whether you’re attending a bike meet, touring through Europe, or simply commuting to work, the upgraded look sets your GT650R or GT650 Comet apart from the crowd.
