If you’re looking to transform your hyosung gt250r and gt250 comet with a performance exhaust that delivers on sound, style, and substance, you’ve arrived at the right place. At Max Torque Cans, we specialise in bolt-on performance cans designed specifically for UK riders who want to unlock the true character of their motorcycles.

Our dedicated exhaust fitment for the Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet from 2004 onwards is engineered to provide an immediate upgrade in exhaust tone, aesthetics, and overall riding enjoyment—all without the complexity or expense of professional workshop fitting.

The Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet has earned a loyal following among UK riders as an accessible, dependable, and genuinely fun entry-level sportsbike. With its well-balanced chassis, comfortable riding position, and eager twin-cylinder engine, the Comet punches well above its weight in terms of capability and enjoyment. However, like so many factory motorcycles, the standard exhaust system leaves much to be desired.

The OEM silencer is heavy, overly muted, and lacks the character that such a sporty-looking machine truly deserves. That’s where our purpose-built performance can steps in, giving your Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet the voice and presence it was always meant to have.

What’s Included with Your Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet Exhaust

We believe in making every upgrade as straightforward and hassle-free as possible. When you order this exhaust for your Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet, you’ll receive a complete fitment kit that includes everything you need for a secure, professional-looking installation:

  • 1 x Performance Exhaust Can – the main silencer, precision-engineered to complement the lines and mounting points of the GT250R and GT250 Comet
  • 1 x Stainless Steel Exhaust Strap – a durable, corrosion-resistant strap designed for a firm, rattle-free mounting that will stand up to British weather and spirited riding
  • 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber – a protective rubber buffer that cushions the strap against the body of the can, reducing vibration and protecting the finish over time

There’s no need to hunt around for additional hardware or make awkward trips to the local fastener shop—everything arrives in one box, ready to fit. This attention to detail ensures that your Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet receives a tidy, OEM-quality installation that looks and performs exactly as it should.

Fitment Details for the Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet 2004 Onwards

This performance exhaust has been specifically designed to fit the Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet from the 2004 model year onwards. It utilises a straightforward 4-bolt fitting that connects directly to the standard OEM downpipes, meaning there’s no need to modify your existing pipework or invest in additional adapters. The can bolts straight on in place of the factory silencer, keeping the installation clean, reversible, and entirely within the spirit of a bolt-on performance upgrade.

The 4-bolt connection point ensures a solid, leak-free joint that won’t loosen over time, even under the demands of daily commuting or enthusiastic weekend rides. Combined with the included stainless exhaust strap and rubber buffer, you’ll achieve a fitment that remains secure mile after mile, regardless of road conditions. Owners of the Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet will be pleased to know that no specialist tools are required beyond a basic socket set and a little patience—this is genuinely a home-garage-friendly job that most riders complete in under an hour.

Installation Notes for Your Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet

Before fitting your new exhaust to your Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet, we recommend allowing the engine to cool down completely if the bike has been recently ridden. A warm or hot exhaust system can make handling components uncomfortable and may cause minor burns. Once the bike is cool, the installation process is refreshingly straightforward:

  • Remove the existing factory silencer by undoing the 4 bolts at the joint and releasing any existing mounting strap or bracket
  • Offer up the new performance can to the downpipe, ensuring the 4-bolt flange seats correctly against the header pipe
  • Hand-tighten the bolts first to align everything correctly before fully torquing them down evenly in a cross pattern
  • Fit the stainless exhaust strap around the can and locate the rubber buffer between the strap and the body of the silencer
  • Secure the strap to your Comet’s footpeg hanger or designated mounting point, ensuring there’s no contact between the can and any surrounding bodywork or frame components
  • Start the engine and check for any leaks at the joint—a small amount of exhaust paste can be applied to the flange if needed for a perfect seal

Many riders fitting this exhaust to their Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet complete the job in under an hour. It’s one of those satisfying upgrades that delivers an immediate, noticeable difference from the very first ride—transforming both the sound and the overall riding experience in one simple afternoon.

Why Upgrade the Exhaust on Your Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet?

Upgrading the exhaust on your Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet is one of the most popular first modifications for good reason—the results are immediate, rewarding, and genuinely enhance your enjoyment of the bike. A performance can offers a noticeably improved exhaust note, giving your GT250R or GT250 Comet a deeper, more characterful tone that reflects the sporty styling of the motorcycle far better than the muted, over-baffled standard unit ever could.

According to Motorcycle News, aftermarket exhausts are among the most effective ways to personalise your bike and improve its overall presence on the road.

Beyond the sound, a well-matched aftermarket silencer can also contribute to a slight reduction in weight compared to the heavier OEM item. On a lightweight 250cc sportsbike like the Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet, every kilogram saved can make a subtle but welcome difference to handling and agility. You’ll also appreciate the visual upgrade—our can is designed to complement the clean, sportsbike lines of the Comet rather than clash with them, adding a touch of custom style without overwhelming the original design.

If you also own or are considering other bikes in the Hyosung range, you might want to explore our exhaust options for the Hyosung GT650R AND GT650 Comet, which offers a similarly straightforward bolt-on upgrade for the larger-engined Comet. Frequently Asked Questions – Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet Exhaust

Will this exhaust fit both the GT250R and the standard GT250 Comet?
Yes—this exhaust is designed to fit both the fully-faired GT250R and the naked GT250 Comet from 2004 onwards, as both models share the same OEM downpipe configuration and mounting points.

Do I need a power commander or remap after fitting?
For most riders on the Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet, a remap is not essential when fitting a slip-on can. The standard carburettor setup copes well with the change in back pressure, and many owners ride for years without any fuelling adjustment.

Will this exhaust pass an MOT?
Our exhausts for the Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet are designed for road use. However, it is always the rider’s responsibility to ensure their motorcycle meets the relevant noise and emissions standards at the time of their MOT test.

Is the stainless strap a direct replacement for the OEM mounting?
Yes—the included stainless exhaust strap and rubber buffer are designed to use the standard mounting point on the Hyosung GT250R and GT250 Comet frame, requiring no additional brackets, welding, or fabrication.

Do you offer exhausts for other Hyosung models?
Absolutely. We stock a comprehensive range of options across the Hyosung lineup, covering everything from 125cc learner models right through to the 650cc V-twin range.

To Make sure that you are shopping for the correct Model exhaust here is some information about this model.

The Hyosung GT250R is a 249 cc (15.2 cu in) motorcycle manufactured by Hyosung Motors & Machinery Inc. It entered the market in 2005, offering a 250 cc class sportbike with a frame similar in size to Hyosung’s larger GT650 sportbike.

Engine
The GT250R comes stock with a 249 cc V-twin engine. The Hyosung V-twin engine was designed in Hamamatsu Japan by a design team consisting of engineers who have previously worked in the research and development teams of Suzuki. Technical features include roller bearing camshafts, two-piece spring dampened bevel silent primary drive gears, dual squish combustion chambers. It utilizes a DOHC eight-valve engine configuration. Twin downdraft Mikuni carburetors were standard until 2008 when fuel injection became available. Cycle World tested the GT250R’s acceleration at 0 to 97 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in 7.6 seconds and 0.0 to 0.4 km (0 to 1⁄4 mi) in 16.06 seconds at 128.89 km/h (80.09 mph).

Fuel economy
The GT250R’s recorded fuel consumption is 3.4 L/100 km (83 mpg‑imp; 69 mpg‑US) in comparison to 4.59 L/100 km (61.5 mpg‑imp; 51.2 mpg‑US) recorded on the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. This allows the GT250R 500 km (310 mi) range from its 17 l (3.7 imp gal; 4.5 US gal) fuel tank.
Motorcyclist and Cycle World recorded 3.8 L/100 km; 74 mpg‑imp (62 mpg‑US).

Suspension and handling
Non-adjustable 51 mm inverted forks are combined with a twin-spar steel frame to provide improved handling. Stock suspension setting is firm, providing stability through corners. Although commonly found only in larger sized sport bikes, the Hyosung GT250R comes standard with a 300 mm front disc setup using twin-piston calipers. Rear brakes are a single 230 mm disc.

2010 model changes
An Australian press release revealed that the 2010 GT250R has been slightly restyled, the most noticeable change taking place on the rear LED stop/tail-lamp.

Electronic fuel injection will be standard on all of Hyosung’s 2010 GTxxx models. Not only that it will also receive oil cooler as standard rather than air-cooled.
