The ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe) is one of the most popular upgrade choices for KTM 690 Duke riders who want to free up performance, reduce weight, and give their machine a more aggressive exhaust note — and at Max Torque Cans, we’ve engineered ours to deliver exactly that. If you’re running a 2012 KTM 690 Duke and you’re looking to eliminate the restrictive catalytic converter from your exhaust setup, this de-cat link pipe is the clean, effective solution you’ve been waiting for. Built from premium materials and designed to fit straight onto your standard OEM downpipes, this is a no-nonsense performance upgrade that makes a real difference from the moment you bolt it on.
What Is the ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe) and Why Do You Need It?
The factory catalytic converter on the KTM 690 Duke 2012 is designed to meet emissions regulations, but it comes at a cost — back pressure. That back pressure restricts exhaust gas flow, which in turn limits the engine’s ability to breathe freely and reach its true performance potential. The ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe) replaces that restrictive cat box section with a straight-through stainless steel link pipe, allowing gases to exit the engine faster, smoother, and more efficiently.
The result? Improved throttle response, a freer-revving engine, a more purposeful exhaust note, and in many cases a noticeable improvement in overall power delivery throughout the rev range. Whether you’re heading to a track day, building a custom streetfighter, or simply want to hear your 690 Duke the way it was always meant to sound, this de-cat pipe is the starting point.
It’s also worth noting that removing the cat box reduces the overall weight of your exhaust setup — every gram counts, particularly on a lightweight naked bike like the 690 Duke.
What’s Included with the ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe)?
We keep things simple and practical at Max Torque Cans. When you order the ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe), you’ll receive everything you need to complete the fitment:
- 1 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel Bent Link Pipe — precision-formed to maintain consistent internal diameter throughout each bend, ensuring maximum gas flow and a perfect OEM-style fit
- 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — high-quality stainless steel strap for secure mounting and vibration resistance
- 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — included to cushion the mounting point, reduce vibration transfer, and protect surrounding components
The link pipe itself is manufactured from Grade 304 Stainless Steel, which offers excellent resistance to heat, corrosion, and the general punishment of everyday riding and varying British weather conditions. The CNC mandrel bending process means the pipe retains its full internal diameter at every bend — no kinks, no crushing, no compromised flow.
Fitment and Compatibility for the ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe)
This de-cat pipe is specifically designed and manufactured to fit the KTM 690 Duke 2012 model. It connects directly to the standard OEM downpipes without any modification, cutting, or welding required. This is a bolt-on upgrade in the truest sense — remove the cat box section, fit the new link pipe in its place, secure with the included strap and rubber, and you’re done.
The ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe) is also designed to work in conjunction with aftermarket performance cans and silencers from Max Torque Cans, so if you’re planning to upgrade your end can at the same time, this link pipe will integrate seamlessly into that setup. It’s the ideal foundation for a full custom exhaust build on your 690 Duke.
As with all our products, we recommend fitting this de-cat pipe on a fully cooled engine. Give yourself adequate time, the right tools, and don’t forget to apply copper grease or anti-seize compound to all relevant joints and fasteners before assembly — particularly important given the high temperatures involved in exhaust fitment.
Installation Notes for the ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe)
Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic mechanical knowledge and a standard toolkit. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect:
- Ensure the engine is completely cold before starting work
- Remove the standard cat box section from between the OEM downpipes and the existing mid-pipe or silencer connection
- Offer up the new ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe) link pipe and check alignment before tightening any fasteners
- Fit the stainless exhaust strap and rubber at the mounting point to secure the pipe correctly
- Apply copper grease or anti-seize to all joints to prevent future seizing
- Tighten all fixings to the manufacturer’s recommended torque settings
- Allow the exhaust to heat cycle once before checking all joints for leaks or movement

Frequently Asked Questions — ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe)
Will removing the cat box affect my bike’s performance?
Yes — and in a positive way. Removing the catalytic converter reduces back pressure and allows exhaust gases to flow more freely from the engine. Most riders report improved throttle response and a more linear power delivery after fitting the ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe).
Is this a straight bolt-on fit?
Absolutely. The de-cat link pipe is designed to fit directly onto the standard OEM downpipes of the KTM 690 Duke 2012 with no cutting, welding, or modification required.
Do I need to remap my bike after fitting?
While the ktm 690 duke 2012 -(de-cat pipe) can be fitted without a remap, a professional fuel remap or Power Commander tune will help you get the maximum benefit from the improved exhaust flow. We always recommend consulting a reputable KTM tuner or dyno specialist after making exhaust modifications.
Is the de-cat pipe road legal?
Removing the catalytic converter will affect your bike’s emissions output and may render it non-compliant with UK road regulations. This product is intended for off-road and track use only. Please check current UK legislation before fitting to a road-registered vehicle.
What material is the link pipe made from?
The link pipe is manufactured from high-quality Grade 304 Stainless Steel using a CNC mandrel bending process, ensuring durability, corrosion resistance, and a consistent internal bore throughout.
