The bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 is one of the most iconic adventure bikes ever produced, and if you’re looking to unlock its true character, a quality performance exhaust is the place to start. At Max Torque Cans, we’ve developed a purpose-built exhaust for the bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 that delivers a deeper, more aggressive note, a cleaner look, and a fitment that feels like it was made specifically for your machine — because it was.
Whether you’re blasting across open moorland, navigating city commutes, or loading up for a continental tour, the right exhaust makes every ride more rewarding. Our bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 exhaust is crafted with the same attention to detail and quality materials that BMW put into the original bike itself.
What’s Included with the BMW R1200GS 2004-2012 Exhaust Kit
We believe in giving you everything you need straight out of the box. When you order your bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 exhaust from Max Torque Cans, your kit will include:
- 1 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel Bent Link Pipe — precision-formed for optimum gas flow and a perfect OEM-matching fitment
- 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — robust, corrosion-resistant and built to last through all weather conditions
- 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — providing vibration damping and protecting the can from unwanted movement on the road
Every component in this bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 kit has been selected for durability and performance. We use Grade 304 stainless steel throughout — the same material trusted in marine and aerospace applications. It resists corrosion, handles extreme heat cycles, and maintains its appearance far longer than mild steel alternatives.
The CNC mandrel-bent link pipe is particularly worth highlighting. Unlike press-bent pipes that can cause internal restrictions and turbulence, mandrel bending maintains a consistent internal diameter throughout every curve. The result is smoother, faster gas flow — which translates directly into improved throttle response and a more satisfying power delivery across the rev range.
Fitment Guide for the BMW R1200GS 2004-2012
This exhaust has been designed to bolt directly onto the standard OEM downpipes of the bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 — no modifications, no adapters, and no head-scratching required. If your bike left the factory between 2004 and 2012, this exhaust is engineered to fit your machine cleanly and confidently.
The link pipe has been manufactured to match the exact geometry of the bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 frame and exhaust routing. This means no awkward gaps, no fouling on bodywork or luggage, and no compromise on clearance. It’s a clean, professional-looking installation that looks at home on a brand-new GS just as much as a well-travelled adventure machine.
Installation Notes for the BMW R1200GS 2004-2012
Fitting this exhaust to your bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 is a straightforward job for anyone with basic mechanical confidence. Here are a few tips to make the process even smoother:
- Allow the engine to cool completely before beginning any exhaust work. The bmw r1200gs 2004-2012 boxer engine retains heat in the headers for longer than many inline-four configurations.
- Apply copper grease to all exhaust fixings before fitting. This prevents seizing and makes future removal far easier.
- Check alignment carefully before fully tightening any clamps or bolts. A slight adjustment at this stage can make a big difference to the finished look and long-term durability.
- Run the engine briefly after installation and check for any leaks at the link pipe joint before heading out on the road.
- For a professional remap, we always recommend consulting a specialist dyno tuner once the new exhaust is fitted to the bmw r1200gs 2004-2012, as this can help you extract the maximum performance benefit.
If you’re ever unsure at any stage, our team is happy to help. You can also check out our YouTube videos to see the exhaust fitted and hear the tone for yourself — there’s nothing quite like hearing it in action before you buy.

These baffles are an integral part of our design to ensure that your motorcycle exhaust complies with road regulations, providing you with a legal and enjoyable riding experience.

Clearly marked with type approval markings “Not for Road Use” etched into the side, these exhausts are specifically designed for racing applications.
