The kawasaki z650 ninja stainless de-cat system & rear silencer from MTC Exhausts is, without question, one of the finest British-made performance exhausts available for the Z650 and Ninja 650 platform today. Handcrafted in our Lancashire workshop using only the highest-grade stainless steel, this bespoke performance can is designed to unleash the true character of your Kawasaki’s parallel-twin engine — delivering sharper throttle response, a more aggressive exhaust note, and a cleaner, lighter setup compared to the heavy OEM pipework. If you’re serious about getting the most from your Z650 or Ninja 650, this is the upgrade you’ve been waiting for.
At MTC Exhausts, we’ve been manufacturing bespoke motorcycle exhausts since 2001, and our reputation has been built entirely on quality, craftsmanship, and real-world performance gains. Unlike mass-produced alternatives sourced from overseas warehouses, every single unit that leaves our Burscough, Lancashire factory is handmade to order — meaning you receive a product built with genuine care and precision, not one that’s been sitting in a box for months. When you invest in the kawasaki z650 ninja stainless de-cat system & rear silencer, you’re investing in over two decades of British manufacturing expertise that simply cannot be replicated at scale.
Why the Kawasaki Z650 Ninja Stainless De-Cat System & Rear Silencer Transforms Your Ride
The de-cat configuration lies at the heart of what makes this performance exhaust so devastatingly effective. By removing the restrictive catalytic converter section from the standard headers, exhaust gases are free to flow far more efficiently through the entire setup. The result is a noticeable improvement in mid-range torque and throttle response — exactly what the Z650 and Ninja 650 rider wants, whether you’re on road or track. Paired with our signature 320mm rear silencer, the combination creates a well-balanced, purposeful can that sounds every bit as good as it performs.
We only ever use Grade T304 and T409 stainless steel in our builds — materials chosen specifically for their outstanding heat resistance, corrosion protection, and long-term durability. All joints are sealed using stainless gas-tight rivets, ensuring there are absolutely no leaks and no rattles over time. This is a performance can built to last the lifetime of your motorcycle, not just a season or two. The kawasaki z650 ninja stainless de-cat system & rear silencer is engineered with the same uncompromising standards we apply to every single product that leaves our factory floor.
What’s Included with the Kawasaki Z650 Ninja Stainless De-Cat System & Rear Silencer
Everything arrives in a single, well-packaged box. There are no additional parts to source, no guesswork, and no unnecessary complication. Here is everything included as standard with your order:
- De-cat headers — precision-formed stainless pipework matched to OEM mounting points, removing the catalytic converter for unrestricted flow
- 320mm rear silencer — our signature stainless can, delivering a deep, purposeful tone with every throttle input
- Link pipe — seamlessly connects the headers to the rear silencer for a clean, professional finish
- 2 x connecting clamps — ensuring a secure, rattle-free join between every section
- Stainless exhaust strap — for solid, dependable mounting of the silencer to your bike’s hanger
- Exhaust strap rubber — protecting both the strap and your bodywork from vibration and wear
The kawasaki z650 ninja stainless de-cat system & rear silencer is a complete kit, ready to fit straight from the box. No additional purchases required — everything you need to complete the installation is included as standard.
Fitment Guide for the Kawasaki Z650 Ninja Stainless De-Cat System & Rear Silencer
This performance can is a direct-fit upgrade designed specifically for the Kawasaki Z650 and Ninja 650. The headers are formed to precisely match the OEM exit points, meaning the fitment process is clean and intuitive for any competent home mechanic or motorcycle workshop. Both the naked Z650 and the faired Ninja 650 are catered for within this single design — if you have any doubts about compatibility with your specific model year, please get in touch with us directly before ordering and we’ll confirm straight away.
That said, we always recommend fitting by a qualified technician if you’re in any way unsure about the process. Below are a few key installation tips to keep in mind when fitting the kawasaki z650 ninja stainless de-cat system & rear silencer:
- Allow the engine to cool completely before beginning any exhaust work — never work on a hot bike.
- Apply copper exhaust paste to all joining points to ensure a gas-tight seal and to prevent seizing of clamps over time.
- Torque all fixings to manufacturer’s specification — don’t over-tighten, as stainless can be unforgiving if threads are stripped.
- Check all joints after the first start — re-tighten as necessary once the metal has fully expanded with heat.
- Consider an ECU remap or Power Commander tune following fitting to fully optimise fuelling for the de-cat configuration and maximise your performance gains across the rev range.
We’ve produced a dedicated YouTube fitting video covering this specific installation, and you can also browse over 10,500 real customer build pictures on our Flickr page — giving you total confidence in exactly what you’ll be receiving and how it looks on the bike.
Does the Kawasaki Z650 Ninja Stainless De-Cat System & Rear Silencer Require a Remap?
Whilst the bike will run without one, we strongly recommend an ECU remap or equivalent fuelling solution after fitting the kawasaki z650 ninja stainless de-cat system & rear silencer. The de-cat configuration significantly alters the way exhaust gases exit the engine, and a properly calibrated fuelling map will ensure smooth, linear power delivery across the entire rev range — rather than leaving potential performance gains on the table. A good dyno session will make an already impressive upgrade feel truly transformative.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Kawasaki Z650 Ninja Stainless De-Cat System & Rear Silencer Make My Bike Louder?
Yes — the de-cat headers combined with our 320mm rear silencer produce a noticeably more purposeful and aggressive tone compared to the standard OEM setup. It is characterful and rewarding without being antisocially loud. Most riders describe the note as deep, throaty, and entirely fitting for a performance-oriented parallel-twin.
Is This Can Road Legal?
The de-cat configuration removes the catalytic converter, which may affect road legality depending on current UK emissions legislation. We recommend checking the relevant regulations and consulting your insurer before riding on public roads. The kawasaki z650 ninja stainless de-cat system & rear silencer is equally well-suited to track use, where it genuinely comes into its own.
Does This Fit Both the Z650 and Ninja 650?
Yes — the kawasaki z650 ninja stainless de-cat system & rear silencer is designed to fit both the naked Z650 and the faired Ninja 650 variants. Contact us with your specific model year if you need confirmation before ordering and our team will be happy to advise without any fuss.

Specifically, two changes detailed below:
Road Legal Exhausts: Our road legal exhausts will have the BSAU stamped markings and be crafted with non-removable baffles, aligning seamlessly with the standards set by ACEM (European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers). These baffles are an integral part of our design to ensure that your motorcycle exhaust complies with road regulations, providing you with a legal and enjoyable riding experience.
Race Exhausts and Silencers: For those seeking an exhilarating experience on the track, our race exhausts are engineered to deliver optimal performance. Clearly marked with type approval markings “Not for Road Use” etched into the side, these exhausts are specifically designed for racing applications. This distinction is in line with DVSA policy, ensuring that our race exhausts are suitable for track use, meeting the highest performance standards without compromising on safety.
