The kawasaki z650 rs stainless de-cat system & rear silencer from Max Torque Cans represents a proper British-engineered solution for riders who demand more from their retro-styled parallel twin. Hand-built in our Lancashire workshop since 2001, this complete performance exhaust system has been designed specifically for the Z650 RS, delivering not just a dramatic improvement in sound and throttle response, but a genuine upgrade in build quality that stands head and shoulders above mass-produced alternatives.
If you’re serious about unlocking the full character of your Z650 RS whilst maintaining that classic café racer aesthetic, this is the exhaust system you’ve been looking for.
At MTC Exhausts — the team behind Max Torque Cans — we’ve spent over two decades perfecting the art of bespoke motorcycle exhaust manufacture. Every system that leaves our Burscough facility has been crafted by experienced hands who understand exactly what a modern motorcycle needs to perform at its peak. We don’t import generic components, we don’t compromise on materials, and we certainly don’t believe in cutting corners.
What you receive is a genuinely British-made performance exhaust that’s been engineered specifically for your machine, not adapted from a universal template.
What Makes the Kawasaki Z650 RS Stainless De-Cat System & Rear Silencer a Superior Choice?
The kawasaki z650 rs stainless de-cat system & rear silencer is constructed entirely from premium Grade T304 stainless steel, a material chosen specifically for its exceptional resistance to heat, corrosion, and the relentless punishment of British weather conditions. This isn’t standard mild steel with a coating that’ll flake off after a winter’s riding — T304 stainless offers genuine long-term durability and maintains its appearance beautifully throughout its service life.
Every weld is completed to exacting standards, every join is sealed using stainless gas-tight rivets, and the entire assembly process is handled by craftspeople who’ve been building motorcycle exhausts for years.
Removing the catalytic converter from your Z650 RS’s exhaust flow delivers tangible, noticeable performance gains. De-catting allows exhaust gases to exit the combustion chamber with far less restriction, reducing back pressure and giving the parallel twin engine the breathing space it deserves. The result is sharper throttle response, improved power delivery throughout the rev range, and that raw, mechanical soundtrack that Kawasaki’s 650cc twin is genuinely capable of producing when freed from factory emissions restrictions.
The kawasaki z650 rs stainless de-cat system & rear silencer transforms the riding experience in a way that simple slip-on silencers simply cannot replicate, because it addresses restriction at the source rather than just changing the exit note.
According to Motorcycle News, one of the UK’s most respected motorcycle publications, a properly engineered full system exhaust can deliver improvements of 5-10% in both power and torque figures on modern parallel twin engines, alongside significant weight savings over standard OEM setups. Our experience building exhausts for the Z650 platform confirms these findings — riders consistently report more eagerness from the throttle, cleaner pickup through the mid-range, and a far more engaging connection between right wrist and rear wheel.

Fitment and Installation Details for the Kawasaki Z650 RS Stainless De-Cat System & Rear Silencer
This complete performance exhaust has been engineered as a direct replacement for the standard OEM system on the Kawasaki Z650 RS. Everything required for a clean, professional installation is included in the kit — you won’t need to source additional brackets, adaptors, or hardware. The system bolts directly to the standard downpipe connection points using the existing mounting locations, making installation straightforward whether you’re tackling the job yourself in your garage or having your local dealer handle the fitting.
The 320mm MTC rear silencer has been sized and proportioned specifically to complement the classic lines of the Z650 RS. This bike’s retro-inspired styling demands an exhaust that looks purposeful without appearing overly aggressive or out of place, and that’s precisely what this silencer delivers. The brushed stainless finish suits the bike’s café racer aesthetic perfectly, whilst the sound note strikes an ideal balance between genuine performance character and everyday usability.
Installation Notes and Recommendations
Fitting the kawasaki z650 rs stainless de-cat system & rear silencer is well within the capabilities of any competent home mechanic with basic tools and a decent workspace. However, there are several important points worth noting before you begin:
- Always allow the engine to cool completely before attempting to remove the standard exhaust system — working with hot components is both dangerous and unnecessary
- Apply a small amount of copper-based anti-seize compound to all threaded fasteners during installation to prevent corrosion seizing and make future removal significantly easier
- Once fitted, we strongly recommend a heat-cycling process: ride the bike gently for 10-15 minutes, allow everything to cool completely, then re-check all clamps and connections for tightness before heading out for a proper ride
- Please be aware that removing the catalytic converter will affect emissions compliance. This performance exhaust is intended for closed-road, track, or off-road use in applications where emissions regulations apply, and it remains the owner’s responsibility to ensure legal compliance in their jurisdiction
- Fitting an aftermarket de-cat performance exhaust may require fuelling adjustments for optimum results — we always recommend consulting a qualified motorcycle tuner or dyno operator to ensure your air-fuel ratios remain safe throughout the rev range
