The Yamaha TRX850 96-99 deserves a performance exhaust worthy of its legendary character. Our precision-engineered system unlocks peak power and delivers that distinctive parallel-twin roar. Built for riders who demand both performance and authenticity.

The yamaha trx850 96-99 is a legendary parallel twin that has earned its place in motorcycling history, and it deserves a performance exhaust system worthy of its distinctive character — which is precisely what Max Torque Cans has engineered for discerning riders across the UK. Built specifically for the 1996 to 1999 model years of Yamaha’s acclaimed TRX850, this stainless steel exhaust upgrade has been designed to bolt straight onto your standard OEM downpipes, delivering a clean, professional installation that transforms both the sound and performance of your machine.

Whether you’re chasing sharper throttle response, a deeper and more purposeful exhaust note, or simply need to replace an ageing standard silencer that’s seen better days, this product delivers on every front with the quality and precision that British riders demand.

Manufactured right here in the UK using premium-grade materials and designed with real-world fitment in mind, this exhaust represents the upgrade your TRX850 has been waiting for since it first rolled out of the factory over two decades ago. Every component has been carefully selected to ensure durability, performance gains, and that all-important factory-correct fit that means no hassle during installation and no compromises once you’re back on the road.

Complete Kit Contents for Your Yamaha TRX850 96-99 Exhaust System

Every kit arrives at your door complete and ready to fit, so you won’t find yourself hunting around for missing components or making emergency trips to the parts counter halfway through your weekend installation. Here’s exactly what you’ll receive when you order your yamaha trx850 96-99 exhaust from Max Torque Cans:

  • 2 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel Bent Link Pipes — precision-formed to match the OEM routing exactly, these pipes ensure smooth exhaust flow and a factory-accurate fit that looks professional and performs brilliantly
  • 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — heavy-duty construction built to last through hard acceleration, vibration, and the kind of abuse British roads throw at motorcycles daily
  • 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — included to protect against unwanted heat transfer and reduce resonance at the mounting point, extending component life considerably

The inclusion of mandrel bent link pipes is particularly significant for performance-minded riders. Unlike cheaper crush-bent alternatives commonly found on budget exhausts, mandrel bending maintains a consistent internal diameter throughout every curve and bend in the pipework. This seemingly small detail makes a substantial difference: exhaust gases flow more freely through the system without turbulence or restriction, which translates directly into improved breathing, better performance across the entire rev range, and a noticeably more responsive engine that rewards your right wrist with immediate feedback.

Precise Fitment Details for the Yamaha TRX850 96-99

This exhaust system has been purpose-built exclusively for the yamaha trx850 96-99 model range — covering the 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999 production years of Yamaha’s much-loved parallel twin sportsbike. The system is engineered to fit directly onto your standard OEM downpipes, which means there’s absolutely no requirement for additional adaptors, welding work, or specialist fabrication. If your existing downpipes are in serviceable condition and your bike hasn’t undergone significant structural modifications, this exhaust will drop straight on with minimal fuss.

The stainless steel construction used throughout is grade 304, a material choice that offers outstanding corrosion resistance — an absolutely essential consideration for UK riders who contend with year-round dampness, salt-laden winter roads, and the kind of unpredictable British weather that can reduce inferior exhausts to rusty scrap within a single season.

This isn’t a cheap import hastily dressed up with a shiny finish and vague promises; it’s a properly manufactured performance component built to endure genuine British riding conditions and deliver years of reliable service.

Installation Guidelines for Your Yamaha TRX850 96-99 Performance Exhaust

Fitting your new yamaha trx850 96-99 exhaust is a straightforward procedure that most mechanically competent riders will be able to complete at home using basic workshop tools. That said, we always recommend working on a completely cold engine to avoid burns and heat-related complications, applying penetrating oil to any stubborn OEM fixings at least an hour before you begin work, and having a second pair of hands available during the initial alignment and positioning stage — exhaust systems can be awkward to hold in place whilst simultaneously tightening fixings.

The stainless strap and accompanying strap rubber supplied in your kit should be fitted snugly but not excessively over-tightened. Remember that stainless steel expands considerably when heated, and leaving a small amount of flex in the mounting arrangement will significantly extend the working life of the strap and prevent stress fractures. Always double-check all fastenings and connections once the exhaust has completed its first full heat cycle, as initial bedding-in can cause minor settling at joints and mounting points.

If you’re uncertain at any stage of the installation process, or if you encounter fitment issues that aren’t immediately obvious, we strongly recommend consulting a qualified motorcycle mechanic. Getting the fitment right first time means you’ll enjoy the full benefit of your performance upgrade without any unwanted rattles, exhaust leaks, or heat damage to surrounding bodywork or electrical components.

Why Choose Max Torque Cans for Your Yamaha TRX850 96-99 Upgrade?

At Max Torque Cans, we’ve been supplying performance exhausts and silencers to UK motorcyclists for years, and our hard-earned reputation rests firmly on two fundamental principles: uncompromising quality of product and guaranteed accuracy of fitment. Every exhaust we offer has been chosen because it delivers exactly what it promises to do, and the yamaha trx850 96-99 exhaust is absolutely no exception — it’s been thoroughly tested, it fits precisely as described, and it makes a genuine, noticeable difference to your riding experience.

The TRX850 is a motorcycle with a devoted and knowledgeable following among enthusiasts, and quite rightly so. It’s a torquey, characterful parallel twin with superb handling characteristics and a riding feel that bigger, heavier machines simply cannot replicate. A properly engineered performance exhaust complements that unique character perfectly — delivering sharper throttle response, a stronger mid-range pull that makes overtaking safer and more confident, and a sound that does proper justice to those distinctive 270-degree firing twin cylinders.

We’re also proud to maintain a growing catalogue of Yamaha-specific performance upgrades across multiple model ranges. Frequently Asked Questions — Yamaha TRX850 96-99 Exhaust

Will this exhaust fit all production years of the TRX850? Yes, absolutely. This exhaust system is designed to cover the complete yamaha trx850 96-99 production run, spanning model years 1996 through to 1999 inclusive. If you’re uncertain about your specific model year or have questions about compatibility with modified machines, please feel free to contact our team before placing your order.

Do I need to remap or rejet my carburettors after fitting this exhaust? Because this system is designed to fit onto your standard OEM downpipes and doesn’t dramatically alter the fuelling characteristics or back-pressure of your engine, most riders find that no immediate remap or rejetting is strictly required. However, for optimum performance and to extract every possible benefit from your upgrade, a carburettor inspection and possible rejet is always worth considering — especially if your bike is running other performance modifications.

Is this exhaust road legal for UK use? Max Torque Cans recommends checking current UK noise and emissions regulations and consulting with an MOT tester if you have any concerns about compliance. It remains the rider’s legal responsibility to ensure their exhaust meets all required standards for road use. For detailed information on UK motorcycle exhaust regulations, refer to guidance published by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.

What grade of stainless steel is used in construction? All link pipes are manufactured from grade 304 stainless steel, a material specification that offers excellent long-term durability and superior corrosion resistance for sustained use in demanding UK weather conditions.

Can I see this exhaust fitted to an actual TRX850 before I buy? Absolutely.
