At Max Torque Cans, we specialise in precision-engineered exhausts built to complement some of the most iconic motorcycles ever produced — and the FZR1000 is absolutely one of them. Whether you’re restoring a classic, upgrading for enhanced performance, or simply replacing a tired, corroded silencer, our link pipe and can setup is designed to deliver outstanding results without compromise.
The Yamaha FZR1000 was a revelation when it first appeared, blending cutting-edge Deltabox frame technology with a thundering 1,002cc Genesis inline-four engine. From 1989 through to 1995, this machine dominated the open-class landscape and earned a devoted following that endures to this day. It deserves an exhaust system that matches its legendary character — purposeful, powerful, and properly manufactured.
That’s precisely what we’ve crafted here at Max Torque Cans, and we’re proud to offer it to fellow enthusiasts who understand what makes these bikes so special.
Complete yamaha fzr1000 1989 – 1995 Exhaust Kit — What’s Included
Every kit we supply for the yamaha fzr1000 1989 – 1995 is a complete, ready-to-fit package. We don’t leave you hunting around for missing hardware or scratching your head over compatibility issues. Here’s exactly what arrives at your door when you order:
- 1 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel Bent Link Pipe — formed from premium grade 304 stainless steel for long-lasting corrosion resistance and a clean, professional finish that stands up to British weather
- 1 x Stainless Exhaust Strap — a robust mounting strap engineered to securely retain the silencer under all riding conditions, from spirited back-road blasts to motorway cruising
- 1 x Exhaust Strap Rubber — a quality rubber buffer that isolates vibration and protects both the strap and can from unnecessary wear over time
The link pipe is the centrepiece of this kit. CNC mandrel bending ensures the pipe maintains a consistent internal diameter throughout every curve, which keeps exhaust gas flowing freely and efficiently. There’s no crimping, no restriction, and no compromise on flow — just clean, smooth metalwork that slots neatly into place. This manufacturing technique is essential for maintaining optimum exhaust velocity and back-pressure characteristics, which directly translates to better throttle response and improved power delivery across the rev range.
Precision Fitment for Your yamaha fzr1000 1989 – 1995
One of the most common frustrations with aftermarket exhausts is fitment. Poorly designed pipes that need bending, grinding, or bodging into place are an all-too-familiar story for many riders. With our yamaha fzr1000 1989 – 1995 link pipe kit, that simply isn’t an issue. This exhaust is made to fit straight to the standard OEM downpipes — no modifications required, no adapter pieces, no fuss whatsoever.
The design follows the original routing closely, meaning the finished installation looks factory-clean whilst still delivering genuine improvements over the tired stock setup. Whether your FZR is a tidy 1989 example or one of the later 1995 models with revised bodywork, the fitment remains consistent across the entire production run covered by this listing. We’ve done the hard work so you don’t have to.
Our link pipes are manufactured in-house with careful attention to real-world fitment. We test against actual bikes, not just measurements on a page or CAD drawings. The result is a component that drops straight in and bolts up exactly as it should — giving you more time enjoying the ride and less time wrestling with the installation in your garage or workshop.
Installation Notes for Your yamaha fzr1000 1989 – 1995 Performance Exhaust
Fitting your new exhaust is a straightforward job for anyone with a basic mechanical aptitude and a decent set of tools. Here are a few practical tips to make the process as smooth as possible:
- Always work on a cold engine. Attempting to remove or fit exhaust components on a hot bike is dangerous and can cause serious burns or damage to surrounding components.
- Inspect the OEM downpipes before fitting. Since the link pipe connects directly to the standard downpipes, check them carefully for cracks, corrosion, or damaged threads. Address any issues before fitting the new pipe to avoid disappointment.
- Use copper grease on all threaded connections. This prevents galling and makes future removal far easier, which is particularly important on stainless steel fittings that can seize over time.
- Fit the rubber buffer to the exhaust strap before tightening. The rubber isolates vibration and should sit correctly between the strap and the can before you apply any tension to the mounting hardware.
- Torque all fasteners to manufacturer specification. Over-tightening is just as problematic as under-tightening — particularly on stainless steel, where thread damage can occur more readily than with mild steel.
- Run the engine briefly after fitting and check for leaks. A quick idle and visual inspection will confirm all joints are seated correctly and sealing as they should before you head out on the road.
The entire job can typically be completed in well under an hour for someone familiar with their machine. Even if you’re new to exhaust work, take your time and follow the steps above and you’ll achieve a great result that you can be proud of.
