The ducati 750ss 1991 – 2002 remains one of the most celebrated supersport motorcycles ever to emerge from Bologna’s legendary workshops, and upgrading it with a precision-engineered performance exhaust is arguably the single most rewarding modification you can make. At Max Torque Cans, we’ve developed a dedicated link pipe kit built specifically for this iconic machine, combining traditional Italian flair with modern manufacturing precision.

Whether you’re chasing performance gains on track days, restoring a cherished classic to its former glory, or simply looking to breathe new life into your daily rider, this exhaust upgrade is designed with your exact needs in mind.

Why Upgrade the Exhaust on Your Ducati 750SS 1991 – 2002?

The factory exhaust fitted to the ducati 750ss 1991 – 2002 was designed primarily to meet emissions regulations and keep production costs down, which inevitably means compromises in performance and longevity. Over the years, these standard systems age, corrode, and lose efficiency, robbing your Ducati of the responsive throttle feel and characterful exhaust note that makes V-twin ownership so special.

Upgrading to a high-quality aftermarket exhaust doesn’t just restore lost performance—it actively enhances the riding experience, unlocking better gas flow, sharper throttle response, and that unmistakable deep growl that reminds everyone within earshot exactly what you’re riding.

Beyond performance, there’s the aesthetic transformation. The original exhaust on the ducati 750ss was never its most flattering feature, and after decades of use, many have become discoloured or corroded. A set of gleaming stainless steel link pipes paired with a quality silencer transforms the bike’s profile, giving it the purposeful, race-bred appearance that perfectly matches its sporting pedigree. This is an upgrade that delivers on every front: sound, performance, and visual appeal.

We’ve assembled a comprehensive exhaust kit that provides everything needed to complete the installation properly, without cutting corners or compromising on quality. This isn’t a budget afterthought—every component has been carefully selected for correct fitment, long-term durability, and optimal performance. Here’s exactly what arrives in your kit:

  • 2 x Stainless 304 CNC Mandrel Bent Link Pipes — Precision-formed from premium 304-grade stainless steel, these link pipes are mandrel bent to maintain consistent internal diameter throughout every curve and bend. This eliminates flow restrictions and ensures your ducati 750ss breathes freely, maximising exhaust gas velocity and power delivery across the rev range.
  • 2 x Stainless Exhaust Straps — Robust, corrosion-resistant mounting straps that securely anchor your silencers in position and maintain proper alignment mile after mile, year after year.
  • 2 x Exhaust Strap Rubbers — High-quality vibration-isolating rubber buffers that protect mounting points and prevent unwanted resonance from transferring through the frame, ensuring a rattle-free ride.

The entire kit is engineered to bolt directly onto the standard OEM downpipes of the ducati 750ss, making this a genuinely accessible upgrade for home mechanics and professional workshops alike. No fabrication, no guesswork—just precision engineering designed to fit right the first time.

Fitment Details for the Ducati 750SS 1991 – 2002

Fitment is refreshingly straightforward with this kit. The link pipes have been engineered to match the OEM downpipe outlets on the ducati 750ss 1991 – 2002 precisely, covering every model year across the entire production run. There’s no cutting, welding, or adaptation required—this is a genuine bolt-on fitment that slots into place cleanly and securely.

Before installation, we always recommend inspecting your existing OEM downpipes for wear, corrosion, or damage. If the downpipes are tired or compromised, now is the ideal opportunity to address them. Once everything is confirmed in good order, fitting the link pipes, straps, and rubbers is a job most competent home mechanics can complete in an afternoon using basic hand tools.

No specialist equipment or professional assistance is required, though if you’re not confident working around exhaust components, any local workshop will complete the installation quickly and cost-effectively.

As with any exhaust work, ensure the engine is completely cold before beginning. Take particular care with fasteners that may have corroded over the years—a generous application of penetrating oil the night before makes removal considerably easier. Torque all fixings to manufacturer specifications and always run the engine briefly after fitting to check for leaks before venturing out on the road.

Materials and Build Quality: Why 304 Stainless Steel Matters

We take pride in the quality and craftsmanship that goes into every kit we produce at Max Torque Cans. The link pipes in this ducati 750ss 1991 – 2002 kit are manufactured from 304-grade stainless steel, widely recognised as the benchmark material for performance exhausts throughout the UK and Europe. Grade 304 stainless offers exceptional resistance to the extreme temperatures generated by air-cooled V-twin engines, whilst providing outstanding corrosion resistance against rain, road salt, and the challenging British weather conditions every motorcycle must endure.

The mandrel bending process is equally critical. Unlike cheaper crush-bent pipes that pinch and restrict internal diameter at bends, mandrel bending maintains consistent pipe wall thickness and internal diameter throughout every curve. This eliminates flow restrictions that could impede exhaust gas velocity, ensuring your ducati 750ss performs as impressively as it looks. According to Motorcycle News, proper exhaust gas flow is fundamental to maximising mid-range torque and throttle response on V-twin engines—precisely what this kit delivers.

The stainless straps and rubber buffers complete the package, providing secure, rattle-free mounting that will last the lifetime of the bike without requiring constant adjustment or replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions — Ducati 750SS 1991 – 2002 Exhaust Kit

Will this kit fit every year of the Ducati 750SS 1991 – 2002?

If you have any doubts about compatibility with your specific bike, please get in touch with us before ordering—we’re always happy to help.

Does this kit include a silencer or end can?
This kit supplies the link pipes, mounting straps, and rubber buffers. Silencers and end cans are available separately in our store, giving you complete flexibility to choose the end can that best suits your ducati 750ss and your personal preferences for sound level and styling.

Is professional fitting required?
Not at all. This is a direct bolt-on kit designed for straightforward fitment to OEM downpipes. Any competent home mechanic should be able to complete the installation without specialist tools or professional assistance. That said, if you’re not confident working with exhaust components, any local motorcycle workshop will fit this kit quickly and inexpensively.

Will my bike require remapping after fitting?
Link pipe changes on the ducati 750ss typically do not require remapping on their own. However, if you’re fitting a full open exhaust system or making other fuelling modifications simultaneously, it’s worth consulting a Ducati specialist to ensure optimal performance and safe air-fuel ratios.

How do I maintain stainless steel link pipes?
Grade 304 stainless is exceptionally durable and largely self-maintaining. An occasional wipe-down with a suitable stainless steel cleaner will keep the pipes looking pristine. Avoid abrasive cleaning materials that could scratch or damage the surface finish.
